The workshop\u2019s goal was to foster conversations among math educators, both formal and informal, and researchers and developers in the making and tinkering community in order to define next steps toward expanding the potential of making environments to foster mathematical reasoning and identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls poster=\"https:\/\/www.terc.edu\/mathinthemaking\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2021\/03\/MathInTheMaking_Video_Cover-scaled.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/filedn.com\/llHJkVP2LCLJlRAbtLlexSm\/Math%20in%20the%20Making\/Math%20in%20the%20Making%20-%20Bringing%20Math%20Eyes%20to%20Making%20Experience%20(large).mov\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Over a two-day period, the 50 attendees heard keynotes, observed visitors in the science center maker space, and participated in a variety of making activities\u2014which they then mined, with the guidance of math researchers acting as \u201cmath eyes,\u201d for mathematical possibilities. They also organized themselves into affinity groups for more in-depth discussions and provided recommendations on next steps for the workshop planners.
