Call-back session<\/strong>:\u00a0Join us for a call-back session on June 17th, at 6 pm Eastern Time.<\/strong> Sequoyah Wharton (2025) will give a presentation he’s entitled Play Is How Thinking Learns to Move: Indigenous Learning Systems, Story, and Climate Sense-Making. “We will discuss the idea of play as a rigorous learning structure, while connecting it to Indigenous learning systems through observation, story, place, relational accountability, and community responsibility.” A Zoom link will be sent out about a week before hand.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The May call-back, led by Whitney Aragaki (2025), was attended by Sequoyah Wharton (2025), Amanda Darlak (2024), Camille Fowler (2024), and Ois\u00edn Gunning (2025). Whitney asked the meeting to reflect on how they find allies for their innovative work in climate change & equity. Naturally, the answers are often very site-specific \u2014 as teachers find collaborators within the school across disciplines, build or strengthen community partners and opportunities for learning and service; and negotiate with school or town administration. This is a topic that may well be a good one to revisit this coming year, especially with the new cohort of Fellows who will join us this summer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Introducing the 2026 Climate and Equity Fellows<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

91±¬ΑΟ, in partnership with the MacArthur Foundation, will welcome 18 Climate and Equity Fellows\u2014high school educators addressing issues of climate and equity in their classrooms\u2014to participate in the 2026 Climate and Equity Institute. The Institute will take place Sunday, July 26 \u2013 Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the Schoodic Institute campus in Maine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
